OVERVIEW OF ROLE

The Art Installation Assistant Manager supports the Art Installation and Mural Manager in planning and executing the on-site exhibit. This role assists with pre-show coordination, site layout, and artist check-ins, ensuring that all safety requirements are met. Onsite, they assist the manager in overseeing installation setup, lighting, and problem-solving, serving as the primary point of contact for artists.

The successful candidate must be available to be on the festival site from Mon. July 7 - Mon. July 14, 2025 and available for pre and post-show part-time planning hours from March - July.

Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, B.C., on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people. Moving into its 17th year, Bass Coast is an independent and artist-owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’. Bass Coast operates without sponsorship and is committed to upholding its founding ethical values, ethos, and environmental commitments.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Pre-Festival: The successful candidate will assist the Art Installation and Mural Manager with preparations, including participating in necessary meetings to fully understand all art installations details and assisting with pre-show communications as required.

On-Site Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the safety of all art installations, ensuring that electrical and other hazards are addressed, and perform final safety checks.

  • Layout and mark installation sites, manage site-specific needs and approve power setups.

  • Act as the point of contact for installation artists, guiding them to designated areas, clearly communicating setup requirements, and serving as an excellent resource throughout their engagement.

  • Collaborate with the site lighting team and other necessary teams.

  • Address setup issues as they arise, ensuring effective problem-solving.

  • Conduct regular checks of all installations during the festival to ensure they remain secure and unaltered.

  • Report any incidents to Security and the Production Manager.

  • Familiarise with parking restrictions and approved loading areas.

  • Adapt to last-minute changes and carry out additional duties as required.

                      QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

                      • Experience working with artists

                      • Experience using spreadsheets and google drive

                      • Experience communicating via email using concise communication 

                      • Experience working in the outdoor elements

                      • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, with demonstrated initiative and multitasking capabilities

                      • Effective interpersonal skills and team spirit

                      • Must possess superior organisational abilities and attention to detail

                      • Capable of working in a constantly evolving environment

                      • Passion for the high pressure and fast paced environment of festival production 

                      • Experience working or attending festivals and / or events is an asset

                      • Knowledge of Sketchup is an asset

                      • Knowledge of basic engineering or design is an asset

                      • Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada


                      HOURS AND COMPENSATION

                      Contract Duration:

                      Pre-show work: March - July 2025.

                      On the festival site: Mon. July 7 - Mon. July 14, 2025.


                      Compensation:

                      Flat Rate Contract: $2,625
