Bass Coast Festival is hiring a Campaign Artist.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

We're seeking an exceptional Campaign Artist to lead the visual direction for the Bass Coast 2027 campaign. Bass Coast is recognized globally for its forward-thinking visual identity that pushes creative boundaries. Our design aesthetic is intelligent, ahead of trends, and distinctly recognizable.

This project position begins March 2026 and all deliverables are due April 30 2026. The role offers a unique opportunity to shape the 2027 visual identity of one of North America's most forward-thinking festivals.

The ideal artist should have extensive knowledge of electronic music culture & the rich history of design that has evolved with the scene over time.

Celebrating its 18th year, Bass Coast is an independent, artist-owned festival shaped by a shared love of cutting edge electronic music, large scale art installations, and an expressive and open hearted community. Founded and led by Liz Thomson & Andrea Graham, Bass Coast has grown into one of North America’s most respected festivals for forward thinking curation, unique stages environments, innovative approach to harm reduction, and attention to detail. 

Recognized for its creative integrity and community spirit, Bass Coast has been awarded DJ Mag’s Best Boutique Festival in North America for two consecutive years and named Best Midsize Festival in Canada by the Canadian Live Music Industry Awards. Set against the stunning landscape of the shared traditional territories of the Nłeʔkepmx and Syilx Nations in British Columbia, it continues to be celebrated on a global stage.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Project Phases

  • Concept Phase: Create and present 3 unique, fully-developed concepts for the 2027 campaign direction.
  • Refinement Phase: Collaboration  with the Bass Coast team to finalize one selected direction.
  • Execution Phase: Creation of a comprehensive brand guideline document, a design kit with templates and specific direction specifications for the graphic and marketing team to reference throughout the year.

Deliverables

  • Complete a comprehensive brand guidelines document including typography, colour systems, graphic treatments, and usage rules.
  • Develop a design kit with templates and assets adaptable across social media, web, print posters, merchandise, signage, and video content.
  • Create a modular Brand Asset Library including reusable backgrounds, iconography, GIF stickers, motion graphics elements, visual motifs to enable consistent, scalable execution across marketing and design teams.
  • Art direction specifications for the media and graphic design teams to execute consistently throughout the campaign.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Experience

  • 3-5+ years professional design experience with a portfolio demonstrating bold, conceptual campaign work
  • A passion and deep understanding of the type of music and art presented at Bass Coast, as well as the larger branding trends across the electronic music industry. 
  • Proven ability to create cohesive visual systems that work across diverse applications
  • Experience developing brand guidelines and design systems for multiple clients 
  • Experience working at or attending music festivals or large events is an asset 
  • Experience with 2D motion graphics and video editing is highly preferred.


Skills

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Strong typography and colour theory knowledge
  • Evidence that you can balance artistic vision with practical application requirements
  • Understanding of print production and digital asset requirements
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to integrate feedback
  • Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

Timeframe

  • March: Concept Phase: Development and presentation of 3 unique campaign directions
  • March: Refinement Phase: Collaboration and iteration to finalize one selected direction
  • April: Execution Phase: Creation of comprehensive brand kit, style guidelines, and design system
  • April 30th: Deliverables: All deliverable due

Compensation 

Project-Based Flat Fee: $5,000.00
