Bass Coast Festival is hiring a Graphic Designer / Video Editor.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
We’re looking for a Graphic Designer / Video Editor to join our small, collaborative team. In this role, you’ll create compelling visual content with a strong focus on social media, producing designed graphics, and short form video content. You’ll also support event design projects, ensuring every visual asset aligns with our brand’s ethos and campaign direction. Working closely with the marketing team and our lead designer, you’ll help maintain visual consistency across all touchpoints, while contributing creative ideas during concept development and campaign planning. ABOUT BASS COAST
Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people.
Moving into its 17th year, Bass Coast is an independent & artist owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’, 'Best Midsize Festival in Canada' by Canada Music Awards, and 'Best Music Festival in Vancouver' runner-up by the Georgia Straight Vancouver.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Create visual concepts and designs for promotional materials including social media graphics, posters, flyers, banners, merchandise, event signage, and website content.

Develop digital assets such as social media still graphics, simple video edits, and email campaign visuals that align with the annual brand campaign and marketing strategy.

Adapt campaign concepts into various asset types, ensuring consistency across formats and platforms.

Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines, and providing time estimates and progress updates to the team.

Maintain organized, well-labelled design files and templates, ensuring proper file management, version control, and easy access via our shared Google Drive.

Work closely with the Lead Designer and marketing team to understand project requirements, creative direction, and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field, or equivalent experience.

3+ years of professional experience in graphic design, preferably in the music, arts, or festival industries.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.).

Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of design work across various media.

Ability to translate brand identity and messaging into compelling visual designs.

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Familiarity with digital marketing tools and social media platforms.

Experience with motion graphics and video editing.

Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Practical experience with Google Workspace.

Enjoys organizing and managing priorities with a sense of urgency.

Capable of working in a constantly evolving environment.

Experience working or attending festivals and/or events is an asset.

Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION
Contract Duration:
May 2025 - 6 month trial period.
This is a part-time, permanent position, requiring on average 20 hours/week.
Must be be available within regular office hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.
The successful candidate must be available to be on the festival site from July 8 to July 15.
Compensation:
$30/ hour based on experience and qualifications
Bass Coast offers an innovative, flexible and creative work environment. All Bass Coast employees work remotely and are required to have their own computer, printer, file storage and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and work remotely via zoom with team members. In-person meetings may be required.
