SUPER VOLUNTEER POSTING
Bass Coast Festival is seeking a Recording Team Super Volunteer.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The Recording team is responsible for planning, implementing, and operating the recording system at Bass Coast Festival. You will be responsible to record approximately 8-10 sets over the course of the weekend. The role spans pre-show review of equipment, on-site recording, and remote file management and mastering.
The successful candidates must be available on-site from Wed. July 8 – Sun. July 13, 2026. While the role begins Thur. July 9, we ask all volunteers to arrive Wed. July 8 to get settled in.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Attend an online planning meeting with the Music Director and Technical Director to determine the schedule and technical requirements before arrival on-site.

Supply, implement and test the audio recording system on-site during pre-show time on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

Live monitor the audio recording system during the festival to ensure high recording quality and split recordings into appropriate artist segments (on-site, July 9–12, 2026).

Trim audio recordings to correct start and end times, title the files, and conduct any required EQ/mastering to optimize audio quality (remote work-from-home, July 15–29, 2026).

As a team of three, deliver approximately 10 sets each (total) complete high-quality recorded artist sets to be shared publicly and free of charge on Bass Coast’s online platforms.

Estimated hours: 2 hours pre-show (system planning), 19 hours on-site (set up and recording), 10 hours post-show (editing/mastering) - 31 hours total.

Ensure all recordings meet Bass Coast’s high standards of audio quality.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Proven experience in live audio recording, ideally at festivals or multi-stage events.

Strong knowledge of audio recording systems, signal flow, and recording hardware/software.

Experience with post-production workflows including editing, EQ, and mastering of live recordings.

Strong attention to detail in audio file management, naming conventions, and delivery.

Ability to troubleshoot technical audio issues quickly and calmly in a live festival environment.

Ability to work independently on remote deliverables with minimal supervision.

Comfortable working as part of a small collaborative audio team on-site.

Practical experience with spreadsheets (Google Sheets).

Capable of working in a constantly evolving environment.

Experience working, volunteering or attending festivals and/or events is an asset.

Volunteers must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.
COMMITMENT PERIOD AND ACCESS
Time Commitment: Approximately 31 hours total across three phases:
- Pre-show planning (remote): ~2 hours, June 2026
On-site recording: 19 hours, Thu. July 9 – Sun. July 13, 2026
Post-show editing and mastering (remote): ~10 hours, July 15–29, 2026
On-site Availability: We ask all volunteers to arrive Wed. July 8, one day before the role begins, to get set up and settled in.
