ABOUT BASS COAST

Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, B.C., on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people. Moving into its 17th year, Bass Coast is an independent and artist-owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’. Bass Coast operates without sponsorship and is committed to upholding its founding ethical values, ethos, and environmental commitments.


QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Marketing Manager to join our small and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the subculture of electronic music and culture that is showcased at Bass Coast Festival along with an awareness of our place within the industry. This role works closely with the Art Director and Music Director to communicate the festival’s ethos across all marketing channels and develop a strategic plan for relevant and creative growth.

The successful candidate will have a marketing degree and a minimum of three years of marketing managerial experience. They must have a proven track record in sales and growth marketing and the ability to design and execute effective strategies that authentically drive sales.


OVERVIEW OF ROLE
We seek a strategic thinker who can develop high-level marketing initiatives and execute detailed, audience-focused campaigns. The Manager will take an active role in both creating and overseeing digital content that authentically connects with our community, collaborating closely with team members to ensure our voice remains genuine and impactful across all platforms.

This is an opportunity for a marketing professional to apply their education and industry experience to a unique cultural platform. The role offers space to implement data-driven strategies, test innovative approaches, and grow alongside a dedicated team that's helping shape an iconic festival and welcoming community.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Leading a talented team of five (Social Media Manager, Graphic Design Lead, Media Manager, Street Team Manager, and Content Creation Lead), you will focus on:

  • Strategic Marketing & Sales: Develop and implement sales-driven marketing strategies to increase ticket sales, enhance attendee engagement, and maximize brand exposure.

  • Creative Marketing Campaigns: Conceptualize and execute innovative marketing campaigns that reflect the grassroots culture of the festival and attract diverse audiences, with a strong focus on digital platforms and social media, as well as non-traditional marketing channels.

  • Team Management: Recruit, lead, and inspire a team of marketing and creative professionals, including the Social Media Manager, Graphic Design Team, Media Manager, Street Team Manager, and Content Creator; fostering a collaborative and productive environment that encourages innovation and high performance.

  • Creative Cohesion Leadership: Oversee the creation of all festival marketing branding campaigns and materials, including promotional videos, digital content, and print media. Ensure a cohesive and compelling aesthetic that aligns with the festival’s identity.

  • Content Creation: With the support of the creative team, build engaging content like videos, interviews, blogs, newsletters and campaigns. Lean in and support website updates, copywriting, and content gathering. 

  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze marketing data (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic, etc.) to help shape future marketing strategies. Use insights to continually improve audience engagement and conversion strategies. Develop surveys to capture relevant data to inform grant funding, target audiences, and more.

  • Target Audience Identification & Engagement: Conduct thorough market research, surveys, and data analysis to identify existing and emerging audiences in the electronic music scene. Develop audience personas and leverage insights to craft tailored marketing strategies that resonate with various demographic and psychographic groups.

  • Audience Growth & Development: Identify opportunities to expand the festival’s reach by tapping into new and untapped markets. Create strategies to engage with niche audiences, subcultures, and communities both within and beyond the electronic music scene.

  • Public Relations, Media & Crisis Management: Develop and manage media relations. Manage PR campaigns to enhance media visibility and public perception. Proactively address and mitigate any marketing-related challenges or issues that arise during the promotional cycle, ensuring that the festival's brand and reputation remain protected.

  • Street-Level Initiatives: Oversee grassroots promotional activities, such as collaborating with the Street Team, creating special offers, events, contests, and community engagement programs, to build local buzz and increase festival awareness.

  • Budget Management: Oversee the budget for marketing and creative initiatives, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for maximum impact.

  • Email Etiquette: Execute strong email etiquette, including responding to all emails within a 24-hour period during business hours.

  • Various Duties as Required: With our small and dynamic team, there are many new initiatives introduced on a regular basis. Flexibility and the ability to shift focus and nurture new ideas is an integral part of our team.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field.

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a marketing leadership role.

  • Proven track record of developing successful, sales-driven marketing campaigns.

  • Experience in designing and executing strategies that drive ticket sales and audience growth.

  • Strong understanding of brand development and multichannel marketing strategies.

  • Excellent leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.

  • Proficient in digital marketing techniques, social media platforms, and marketing analytics tools.

  • Familiar with Adobe Suite.

  • Strong creative mindset with the ability to balance artistic vision with strategic marketing goals.

  • A passion and deep understanding of the type of music and art presented at Bass Coast.

  • Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

  • 20-30 hours per week with a 3-month trial period. 

  • June and July may require additional hours, which will be compensated accordingly. The successful candidate must be available to be on the festival site from Tues.  July 8 to Tues. July 15.

  • $35-$45 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

  • You will be eligible to participate in the Company’s standard employee group benefit plan after 6 months of employment.
