Bass Coast Festival is hiring a Fencing Manager.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The position is responsible for the coordination and efficient installation of all fencing at Bass Coast. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and motivating volunteer teams and possess great attention to detail. The Fencing Manager will also assist with the general set-up and tear-down team.

The successful candidate must be available to be on the festival site from July 4 - July 18 2024 and available for minimal advance planning hours from May - July 2024.


ABOUT BASS COAST
Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people.

Moving into its 16th year, Bass Coast is an independent & artist owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’, 'Best Midsize Festival in Canada' by Canada Music Awards, and 'Best Music Festival in Vancouver' runner-up by the Georgia Straight Vancouver.



RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Pre-show

  • Become familiar with fencing needs, plans and placement 

  • Submit volunteer requests and scheduling

  • Attend pre-festival prep meetings in the months before the festival

  • Communicate with all volunteers in your department before the festival.

On-Site:

  • Coordinate installations and placement of the fencing

  • Ensure all rental inventory is returned to Supply Centre, communication lead for contacting all rental companies for rental pick up

  • Manage and coordinate fencing volunteers 

  • Collaborate with appropriate teams to plan installation timing 

  • Build, receive and manage inventory of all fencing

  • Mend holes in fences

  • Assist site build team when needed

  • Coordinate tear down of all fencing 

  • Assist with tear down team if required

  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience working in the outdoor elements

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, with demonstrated initiative and multitasking capabilities

  • Effective interpersonal skills and team spirit

  • Effective leader and motivator

  • Carpentry skills 

  • Artistic abilities are a strong asset

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Manual Labour experience

  • Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada


HOURS AND COMPENSATION

Contract Duration:
Minimal pre-show hours required: May - July 2024
On the festival site: July 4 - July 18 2024 (with festival days off)

Compensation:
Flat rate contract: $200/day

Bass Coast offers an innovative, flexible and creative work environment. All Bass Coast employees work remotely during pre-show and post-show and are required to have their own computer, and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and work remotely via zoom with team members. In-person meetings may be required. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada.
